BetterInvesting board member Julie Werner didn’t pick up a hammer to build her dream house, but she used some other very useful tools. She joined a BetterInvesting investment club 30 years ago and learned how to construct her personal portfolio.
You can see her house and hear her story on the full video of her appearance on CNBC’s “Closing Bell,” now on YouTube. Scroll to the 2:52-minute mark. The video we posted here earlier was edited by CNBC and didn’t show the house.
Julie says the foundation of her own portfolio began with three stocks, one each from three companies with dividend reinvestment plans. She cashed in some of her profits in 2007 as she began planning her house, but Julie’s still investing and shares some stock tips in her recent television appearance.
