BetterInvesting will be closed on Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25. We wish our members and the public a happy and safe holiday season, rich with the dividends that matter most: family, friends and your own fireside.
Did we mention food? If your workplace or neighborhood is anything like ours, we’ve been glutting ourselves on homemade treats, including CEO Kamie Zaracki’s yummy Dried Apple Cake from the 1901 edition of the The White House Cookbook and Web editor Mary Treppa’s amazing chocolates.
Since we can’t pass food through the computer screen for your holiday dining pleasure, we’ve found a fascinating website, Vintage Recipes, that features free antique cookbooks ranging from the 1600s to the 1920s, including The White House Cookbook edition from 1887. 1887 was the era of the not-quite-gossamer Grover Cleveland, so some of that chow must have been good!
Our Madison Heights, Mich., offices will again be open for business on Wednesday, Dec. 26.
