BetterInvesting’s home office, volunteers and members extend heartfelt sympathy to the families, friends and co-workers of the 19 heroic firefighters — 18 from an interagency crew hosted by the Prescott (Ariz.) Fire Department — who lost their lives battling the Yarnell Hill fire, northwest of Phoenix. News reports say that the average age of the firefighters who perished was only 22. This horrific loss is a grim reminder of how much police, fire and emergency workers risk daily to make our world as safe as possible.
Our thoughts are also with those in Arizona who have seen their homes and possessions destroyed by this wildfire, the worst in the state’s history.
For those interested in helping out, The Prescott News has links to funds being collected for the firefighters’ families, as well as the Phoenix Regional Chapter of the American Red Cross. The 100 Club of Arizona, which provides relief to fallen firefighters’ survivors, is collecting money for the families of the 18 Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot crewmembers and of the 19th victim, a firefighter who was working with them.
